Reverse 911
In light of the recent emergency response required because of the Avalanche at Hyak, Fire Chief Matt Cowan reminds Snoqualmie Pass Residents to ensure their phone(s) are registered for Reverse 911®.
Reverse 911®, is a community telephone emergency notification system that uses a patented combination of database and GIS mapping technologies to deliver outbound phone notifications of emergencies. The system will deliver a recorded message giving emergency instructions to whoever receives the message. If a citizen or business moves or changes a phone number, they will need to notify the 911 center at their website www.eastsidecomm.org or call 425-885-3131.The database will not include VoIP phone service (e.g. Comcast, Vonage, etc) or cell phones, so if your primary phone falls into one of those categories, you will need to supply that number to the Eastside Regional Communications Center as indicated above. Additionally, if a person or business does not wish to be notified in an emergency they can request their number be removed from the database.
All residents within the Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue response area, which includes the communities accessed from MP 45 to MP 60, along I-90 are eligible for the community telephone emergency notification system. Questions regarding this system should be referred to Chief Matt Cowan at 425-434-6333.
911 System at Snoqualmie Pass
In January, 2008, after reviewing data that was provided by Kittcom, it appears that some of our 911 calls, originating within Kittitas County, have been delayed anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes. Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue immediately asked for historical data to see how severe the problem was from previous months, however, we were not able to obtain data prior to January, 2008.
Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue is continuing to work with Kittitas County officials in an effort to improve the 911 system at Snoqualmie Pass. We asked the Kittitas County Sheriff to consider working with us to re-store the routing of 911 calls to Eastside Dispatch, which occurred prior to 2005.
