HR 1285 passes out of Natural Resources Comm., New Audit Officer Hired

The Snoqualmie Pass Land Conveyance Act, HR 1285, passed out of U.S. House of Representative Natural Resources Committee on June 28th. The Act, together with a U.S. Senate version, would convey some Forest Service land to the Fire District for the purpose of building a fire station. HR 1285 was amended to convey 1-1/2 acres of land instead of the original 3 acres that was proposed. "The amendment was the result of working with some conservation groups such as the Sierra Club and the Cascade Land Conservancy,” stated Caviezel.
“The amendment will still meet our needs, especially sense it appears we will be building a two story building, not a one story building as would be the normal desire.”

Recently Snoqualmie Pass Fire and Rescue (SPFR) received the resignation of its Audit Officer Melanie Farrar. Farrar has been with the department for a time period of a little bit over a year.“Melanie has done an outstanding job and was able to set some processes that helped the department immensely,” stated Chris Caviezel, Chairman of the Board. “Melanie will be sorely missed.” At their Special Meeting held on Friday June 29th, SPFR announced that
Eastside Fire and Rescue (ESFR), through its Chief Financial Officer, Dave Gray, will assume the role as the District’s Audit Officer. SPFR continues to seek ways to improve its processes. “Partnering with other governmental agencies only makes sense, especially when the relationship benefits both sides,” stated Caviezel. “We are in the process of evaluating a formal partnership with ESFR, so this direction makes the best sense.”
